Happy Thanksgiving Week to y'all! This is such an important week to be thankful for the life we have and the people we have in it. I hope everyone is able to spend time with those that are special to them. This year I am staying in Arizona with my sister instead of spending the holiday in Minnesota. Although it is hard not being with family this whole week like last year, it has been nice to get organized at home and to enjoy some time off of work with my sister! Due to school not being in session this whole week we celebrated Thanksgiving with our students last week. Here are some of the highlights:
Painting Corn with Legos
Students dipped a Lego in paint and used it to paint the corn pieces we already had prepared. I gave students the chance to use small are large Legos. They had a lot of fun painting with something new!

Playdough Turkey
We did this activity last year and I do not remember it being as much for students as it was this year! Students had so much fun creating their Playdough Turkey. Some even sat for 10 minutes making theirs, which is a long time for a Preschooler! To incorporate cognitive skills, we were able to ask students to identify colors and to count the feathers.

Coffee Filter Turkey
To start we had the clothes pins ready with the googly eyes glued on and the beaks drawn on. Students colored the coffee filter with markers and then we helped them put the clothes pin on to create the Coffee Filter Turkey.

Food Stamping
My students love to paint! I brought in carrots, small potatoes, an apple, and some small oranges (cuties). We cut them into smaller pieces before students came. Students painted using the food as "stamps". This activity was another hit and all students spent at least 5 minutes painting!

We had such a great time celebrating Thanksgiving last week! What do you do with your students to celebrate?
