My students love ocean animals! We just finished out ocean theme and I am going to share some of my students favorite activities:
Tissue Paper Fish

Beforehand I cut the triangle mouth out of the paper plate and glued it on the opposite side like a tail. I also had the tissue paper cut into small squares and rectangles. This way all students had to do is put glue on the paper plate using a glue bottle and then place the cut up tissue paper onto the glue.
2. Jelly Fish Counting

I had the paper plates cut in half, the eyes glued on, ten holes punched through and the pipe cleaners strung through the holes beforehand. Then students just had to count Cherrios as they put them on the pipe cleaners.
3.Virtual Field Trip

We took three different virtual field trips during our Ocean Theme. I switched between different live camers at the follow aquiriums:
Monterey Bay Aquarium- https://www.montereybayaquarium.org/animals/live-cams/open-sea-cam
Georgia Aquarium- https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/webcam/beluga-whale-webcam/
National Aquarium- https://aqua.org/explore/livestreams
4. Salt Jelly Fish

Students colored the jellyfish using markers and then place glue on the tentacles using a glue bottle. Once the glue was on the tentacles they sprinkled salt over it.
5. Counting Octopus

I had the ocotopus already made using a cupcake tin, googly eyes, glue, strips of paper, and staples. Then students counted Cheerios as they glued them on the tentacles.
6. Celery Fish

Students used celery sticks to paint a fish.
My students really enjoyed the Ocean Theme for the month of September! We are moving on to our Monster Theme for October when we return from Fall Break. What themes would you like to see or use in a Preschool classroom?
